Description

"Trinity" was the code name for the first nuclear bomb test, a part of the Manhattan Project, which lasted between 1942 and 1946, during late WWII. The aim of this project was for the Allied Forces to develop the first nuclear weapon before the Axis Powers. It was led by the USA, with active participation from both the UK and Canada.

So... something that didn't involve MASSIVE amounts of research. Also going back to traditional media and abusing my pens some. Lots of felt-tipping there.

That's the site of the actual test in the background, which is taken from a photo. The test was conducted on 16th July 1945, with a twenty-minute countdown starting at 5:10am, hence Alfred's watch.

Quite a few changes made to the initial draft. I'm actually pretty surprised that I've never seen any fanart of this event. The Manhattan Project was one of the most awesome things I'd learnt in high school physics.

I really like how Nantucket turned out. On the other hand, Canada's ahoge placement caused me quite... a bit... of frustration. I also get Weird Al Yankovic's "White and Nerdy" in my head when I look at him. I tried to make Al and Matt have the same face. Not much else I have to say about this; just... feels good to be using so much black, and to be shading by hand this time 'round. :D

Oh my gosh, my last inking pic was done almost two years ago?! And why does Alfred always have a sh*t-eating grin every time I draw him?

Axis Powers Hetalia, England/Britain/Arthur Kirkland, America/Alfred F. Jones and Canada/Matthew Williams belong to Himaruya Hidekaz.

Lol, Niels Borh, one of the leading scientists on the project was Danish though. just saying *waves national flag*

It's a very, very good drawing, though. It really feels ominous. They look like a trio of super heroes in a super villain setting. ...Does that make sense?
